  • Offers a very low profile (5 3/4″) to make handling much easier
  • Lowers drum tops so that they are not dangerously close to eye level

Low profile, modular spill decks allow you to design and create a spill containment system that meets your specific needs.

The first spill containment products for drums were very tall in order to meet the required gallon capacity specified by the EPA regulations.  Many pallets today are still relatively tall (approx. 12-14″ for 4-drum models and approx. 16-17″ for 2-drum models).  In many situations and applications, this height is not an issue.  If drums are loaded and rarely used or simply stored on these spill pallets until they are needed, it’s really not a big deal.

But for those applications where drums are being moved on and off the pallets with any kind of frequency, that height can become very significant, very quickly.  The other potential issue is the height at which a taller spill pallet can put the top of a drum.  If hazmat is being poured into the drum, or dispensed out of it, that height can put splashed or spilled liquid right at eye level.

The Ultra-Spill Decks offer a very low profile (5 3/4″) to make handling much easier.  It also lowers drum tops so that they are not dangerously close to eye level.

Installation Instructions

Ultra-Spill Deck® Connecting Modules

NOTE: One of the many benefits offered by the Ultra-SpillDeck product line is the ability to connect different modules together with bulkhead fittings in virtually any configuration desired. The bulkhead fittings allow spills to channel from one module to the next, thereby “borrowing” containment capacity. Certain configurations require multiple bulkhead fitting connections while others require only one bulkhead fitting connection.

To simplify the instructions for proper assembly, the example below details connecting two SpillDeck modules with only one bulkhead fitting. For configurations which require multiple bulkhead fitting connections, simply duplicate the following steps for each connection required:

Step 1:

Lift and remove the black decking from each UltraSpill Deck module. Align the modules so that the holes will match up to each other. Leave about a six inch gap between the modules.

Step 2:

Take the bulkhead fitting (1) & remove the hex nut (2), plastic washer (3) and rubber washer (4). Place the threaded bulkhead fitting through the connection hole on one of the modules from the inside.

Step 3:

Place the rubber washer (4) over the bulkhead fiting on the OUTSIDE of the Ultra-Spill Deck module.

Step 4:

Carefully pull the two Ultra-Spill Decks together, making sure the rubber washer stays BETWEEN the decks and the bulkhead fitting goes through the hole in the other deck.

Step 5:

Once the two Ultra-Spill Decks are together and in line, place the plastic washer over the bulkhead fitting. Then thread (hand tighten) the hex nut onto the fitting. Note that the fittings are reverse threaded and the hex nut should be turned counterclockwise to tighten.

Step 6:

Using a pipe wrench tighten the hex nut, making sure that the rubber washer is compressed between the two Ultra-Spill Deck modules.

Step 7:

Place the black decking back into each Ultra-Spill Deck. Place the T-Strip (5) into the edge where the two modules meet.
